  • End the Use of the R-Word

    As disability rights advocates, we are disturbed by the increase in the usage of the R-word, highlighted in this recent Boston Globe article.     On Sunday, October 27th, we held our 3rd annual San Francisco Bionic5K & 1Mile road race. Thank you to our presenting sponsor, the Challenged Athletes Foundation, and everyone who joined us at Crissy Field. It was an incredible day.

  • Gillette Stadium goes Bionic

    Austin, the highest fundraiser at the 2024 Bionic5K, was the honorary captain for the New England Revolution as they took on NYCFC. The game was followed by the first ever full-sided amputee soccer match in a US pro stadium.

  • 7th Annual HSQ Bionic5K & 1Mile

    On Sunday, April 28th we held our 7th annual Bionic5K & 1Mile road race. The event was a huge success with over 1,000 registrants and over $30,000 raised for our anti-bias educational programming in schools. Check out our photo gallery here.

  • I'm Not Your Inspiration

    Stella Young, an Australian comedian and disability rights activist, helped reshape the way disability is perceived. In her TEDxSydney Talk, Young describes the social model of disability, which asserts that “disabled people are more disabled by the society that we live in than by our bodies and our diagnoses.”

  • Bionic Takes to the Ice

    Our newest educator, Elizabeth Suitor, led a sled hockey demonstration at the Eliot School in Boston. A member of the Spaulding Shamrocks, Elizabeth taught about protective gear, the parts of the sled, and the rules of the game. Students asked terrific questions, and Nico and Jovan learned new skills on the ice.

  • So Every BODY Can Move!

    On March 14th, the Bionic Project joined advocates for Bill H.4096 at the Massachusetts State House. Members of the limb different and prosthetist community spoke passionately in favor of insurance coverage for athletic prosthetics and orthotics.

    Our Bionic Book List contains an ever-growing list of resources that broaden our understanding of, and knowledge about, disability, inclusion and access. The list is separated into Lower Elementary, Upper Elementary, Middle School, and High School reading levels.
